Day 27/Indie Travel Art Project: Tell us about a time you celebrated a holiday abroad?

I celebrated Easter in Taxco, Guerrero, Mexico as a kid in the late 1980s. The lifelike iconography, re-enactments and candlelit evening processions through the cobblestone streets were a stark contrast to Easter Egg Hunts and Peeps. It was an excellent albeit eye-opening experience that helped me mature as a traveler and as a member of the global village.
